Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how TideCharts USA ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you visit tidechartsusa.com (the "Site"). TideCharts USA is operated by Joe Freeman, Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA. Questions: hello@tidechartsusa.com.
Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email or other personal details unless you choose to email us. When you email us, we use your message and address only to reply and keep a record of the correspondence.
Like most websites, the Site and our service providers automatically collect limited technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the date and time of your visit. This information is collected through server logs, cookies and similar technologies (pixels, local storage, device identifiers).
The tide search box runs in your browser; what you type is not sent to us.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our partners may use:
- Essential / security cookies set by our hosting and content-delivery provider (Cloudflare) to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the Site.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense and other ad partners) to show, measure and, where permitted, personalize ads.
- Affiliate cookies set by merchants or affiliate networks when you click an affiliate link, so the referral can be credited to us.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works or which ads you see.
Advertising (Google AdSense and third-party vendors)
The Site may display advertising served by Google AdSense and other third-party ad vendors.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings (My Ad Center). You can learn more about how Google uses information at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and about how Google uses cookies in advertising.
- You can also opt out of personalized advertising from many third-party vendors at aboutads.info (Digital Advertising Alliance) and youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
Where required by law (for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), ads and cookies that need consent will be shown only after you give consent through a consent message, which you can change at any time.
Analytics (Google Analytics)
We may use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and usage (for example, pages viewed and time on page). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your device, browser and approximate location; IP addresses are not logged or stored in Google Analytics 4. See how Google uses data from partner sites. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Affiliate links
Some links on the Site are affiliate links (for example, to fishing charters, lodging or gear). If you click one and make a purchase or booking, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The merchant or affiliate network may use cookies to track the referral; their privacy policies govern that data. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
How we use information
- To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site;
- To understand usage and fix problems;
- To show advertising and earn affiliate commissions that fund the Site;
- To respond to messages you send us;
- To comply with law and protect our rights.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information with service providers that help us run the Site (such as Cloudflare for hosting and Google for analytics and advertising), with advertising and affiliate partners as described above, and when required by law or to protect rights and safety. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries.
Your privacy rights in the United States (including California CCPA/CPRA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access or obtain a copy of it, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA and similar state laws. Allowing advertising cookies on the Site may be considered "sharing" under California law.
To opt out of targeted advertising, use the Google and industry opt-out links above, adjust your browser cookie settings, or enable a Global Privacy Control signal, which we treat as an opt-out request where required. To make any other request, email hello@tidechartsusa.com. We will verify requests as required by law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent. Personal information is kept only as long as needed for the purposes above (analytics data is retained for up to 14 months by default).
Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR)
The controller for personal data processed through the Site is TideCharts USA (Joe Freeman), contactable at hello@tidechartsusa.com. Our legal bases are your consent (for non-essential cookies, analytics and personalized advertising) and our legitimate interests (operating and securing the Site, and replying to messages). You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing), and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Transfers outside your country rely on safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses used by our providers.
Children's privacy
The Site is a general-audience site and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact hello@tidechartsusa.com and we will delete it.
Security
The Site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we use reasonable measures appropriate to the limited information we handle.
Third-party links
The Site links to other websites (such as NOAA and partner sites). We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please review their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it was last changed. Material changes will be posted on this page.
